about

Arrow of Deep Time derives of the eponymous multi-channel sound installation, shown in KIOSK - venue for contemporary art in Ghent (Belgium) in december 2022 during the exhibition 'Encounter in Resonance'.
The composition is based on fieldwork, observation and the collecting of sound recordings in a former diorite quarry, abandoned in 1979.
The encircled area of the huge basin that was blast into the mountain functions today as an amplifier for critter that has settled in and around the quarry lake, and transforms the gestalt of their interactions echoing back and forth between the steep cliffs of the former industrial area and the crystal clear water.
Arrow in Deep Time is a speculative approach to convey the experience of its sonic geography, with the particular temporality resulting of the width and depth carved out by man in time and space.
